A bike run, a game of cards and raising money for charity, all in one day.

Some great roads and views.

A bike run, a game of cards and raising money for charity, all in one day.

Play poker and bring a friend.

As I highlighted a couple of weekends ago, this weekend sees the very popular "Poker Run" taking place from Selkirk Police Station. This is a charity fund raising event across the Scottish Borders and is a great day out. You can encompass the fund raising element with riding your bike on some of the best biking roads in the UK and meeting some great people. Registration is from midday at Selkirk, with the event starting about 1.15pm. Why not come along and have a great day!  You'll get the chance to meet up with police bikers, pick their brains and get your hands on some great freebies.

Talking of hands, the "Poker Run" is won by the person, who at the end of the run has the best winning poker hand. When you set off from Selkirk you're given a playing card and at each stopping point thereafter you're given another card, thus building up your "hand". The best one wins. There are loads of raffle prizes to be won also, so come along and make a day of it. The weather is meant to be showery on Saturday, but don't let that put you off, bring your waterproofs.

One or two areas of roadworks to look out for.  There are temporary lights on the A68 at Carter Bar until Friday 8th and some patching work.  The A7 also has some patching work and the A702 around Biggar.  Some advance notice of the closure of the unclassified road that runs between Talla reservoir and Megget reservoir. Closed from 5 to 7 June.

Apart from the poker run the weekend is business as usual for us so hope to see some of you out and about. Hope you have a great and safe weekend and I'll see you at Selkirk on Sunday.
