Have a look, it makes such a difference!

Bank Holiday Bike Runs

Here's something new. A Bank Holiday weekend in Scotland and it's only showers that are forecast for the Borders area, not torrential rain! Friday and Saturday are forecast for light showers, with Sunday and Monday predicted to have sunny intervals. So, there's no excuse, get the bike out once more, pack the waterproofs and plan a ride-out to some of the best biking and most scenic roads in the whole of the UK.

We'll be out and about on the usual routes this weekend looking to speak to as many of you as we can, to give you tips and advice on how to be a better motorcyclist, how to plan your ride, plan your overtakes, read the road and improve those all important observations. We'll be in possession of our usual freebies, earplugs, route maps and side-stand pucks so come along, join in and have a great weekend.

This weekend sees another round of the British Superbikes at Oulton Park. Our local lad Stuart Easton, riding for the Swan Honda team, is doing well so far in the Championship, with a fourth and a third last time out. He's sitting third overall in the Championship table behind Tommy Hill and Josh Brookes with a long way to go and many points still to score and usually goes well at Oulton Park.

If you are going out for a run this weekend, whether it be by yourself or with a couple of mates, or in a larger group, then remember to engage your brain before getting onto the machine. It's tempting to bowl along only looking at what's happening immediately in front of you, but if you concentrate and get your observations further ahead of you to read the road and plan for each bend, hazard or overtake as it presents itself, then the chances are you'll get home in one piece having got more out of the day, enjoyed your riding better and worked on improving your riding skills. What's the point in going out, scaring yourself and learning nothing, if you take an extra moment to think about what you're doing, work on improving your observations and ability then that makes the whole day so much more worthwhile.
