Bikesafe and Around The Corner for 2010

Bikesafe is a practical and enjoyable way in which we can reduce the risks faced when using two wheels. As bikers we are vulnerable. We know safety isn't sexy, it’s not a crowd puller, but if you get involved in an incident, blame is largely irrelevant as it is almost always the biker who comes off worst. So it’s far better to avoid it than try to apportion blame afterwards.

It doesn't matter how long you've been biking you can always learn something new. Our Police bikers along with Edinburgh and District Advanced Motorcyclists (EDAM) and Borders Group of Advanced Motorcyclists are keen to let you in on some of their secrets and best of all  - it’s free!

Bikesafe consists of presentations on motorcycling skills and issues. It’s only a couple of hours, it’s informal and is usually accompanied by lively debate and questions. It’s a good opportunity to share stories and learn form each other. For everyone it’s a great introduction to lifelong motorcycling development, whilst the tea break provides an opportunity to pick our brains on a one-to-one basis.

You will thereafter be invited to join us on one of our fine biking roads which are described in detail on the ROUTES pages, where you can be observed by an experienced biker and receive a practical demonstration of how we do it. Although the ride might only last an hour or two, we know it will whet your appetite and hopefully encourage you to take your riding to the next level.

With plenty of experience around on the day there's also ample opportunity to quiz us on other biking topics.
