Easter weekend - Bike runs if you’re lucky!

Stuart Easton and Swan Honda bike - a winning Team

Like the title says, bike runs if you're lucky.....the weather is not forecast to be good and after the recent heavy rain and snowfalls in the Borders Region, many of the roads are still affected by snow and melt-water runoff. So it all points to a weekend which is not wholly conducive to getting the bike out and going for a run, but if you're keen enough and watch what you're doing, always thinking ahead as to what might be around the corner, then there's no reason why you can't have a great time.

We will be out and about regardless and will be looking to speak with those of you we do meet. At this early start in the season we try to focus on the routes that are popular and recognised as good biking roads, for example along the A708 St. Mary's Loch road and on the A68. The A68 in particular is a great road for getting to a start point then hoping off it onto one of our pre-determined runs that you can find on our ROUTES page. We've been out already this season and are starting to stock up our biker friendly cafes, dealers and filling stations with the numerous freebies you can pick-up. We've a new generation of maps and ear-plugs that you can add to your collection.

Look out soon for the Around The Corner campaign going national.  Other areas of Scotland are producing maps and freebies of their own and will soon be uploading bike runs within their own areas for you all to enjoy, so watch this space for updates.

If this weekend is too soon in the season for you to get the bike out, then how about pulling up the chair, getting the kettle on and tuning into the first round of the British Superbike season which comes this weekend from Brands Hatch. There was a bit of a scare last week when our mate Stuart Easton took a tumble in testing at Cadwell Park and injured his leg. However, it seems as if he's on the mend and raring to go. It'll be tight this year for the championship with many great riders out there on bikes returning times which are very close to one another. With Stuart and James Ellison, who finished third and second respectively in last years title race, the SWAN HONDA team must be in with an excellent chance of a barrel load of victories. I know who I'll be shouting for!!!

STOP PRESS...STOP PRESS...Following the recent prolonged winter weather the roads in The Borders Region have suffered quite badly, the numerous potholes, loose & broken surfaces and worn carriageway markings are evident on almost every road. The B6357, a popular motorcycle route, is particularly badly affected by surface/carriageway deterioration. All motorcyclists using any road in the Borders is urged to take care.
