First weekend out and about - around the corner

This weekend, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 March 2008, sees the first weekend when officers from our motorcycle section will be out and about on the Borders roads to give you the benefit of their experience and advice. Our around the corner safety initiative is aimed at bikers who enjoy riding the roads in the Scottish Borders and who want to do so safely. We are not out to spoil your fun and enjoyment, but to help enhance your knowledge and understanding of riding bikes, which hopefully will increase your fun and safety.

When you're out and about on Saturday, why not pop in to BCG Bikes, Channel Street, Galashiels who are holding an event to mark the 10th anniversary of the RI. They will have a variety of bikes on display and members of the IAM will be there to organise a ride out or two. A couple of our guys will pop in during the day, so don't be shy and pick their brains. You might be lucky, they've a selection of free goodies that they will be giving out.  BCG Bikes are open between 0930 and 1730hrs.

If you're heading out and about in the Borders this weekend, there are roadworks on the A7 south of Stow, approach with care. The weather forecast is for intermittent showers - don't forget your waterproofs.

Have a great day out and stay safe!
