Knockhill Superbike Tickets - Prize Winner announced.
Knockhill Superbike Tickets - Prize Winner announced.

Stuart Easton after winning Macau Grand Prix.

As promised, the draw has been made for the Superbike tickets for the Knockhill meeting on 4/5 July. The lucky winner is Paul Maddock, EH postcode. I've been in touch with Paul to send the tickets out to him.

For those of you not so lucky - once more the weekend is upon us and the weather forecast for biking is pretty good, with only isolated showers predicted. So, where better to head for than the wonderful Scottish Borders?  The roads in the area have recently been voted some of the best biking and most scenic roads in the UK. Come and have a look for yourself.

Our "around the corner" biking initiative is well under way now and we've met up with literally hundreds of you in and around the Borders roads. Thankfully so far there have been no serious incidents and credit for that has to go down to the way you've all responded to the advice and pointers we've been sharing.  As I've mentioned previously on this page, we're not out to hound you, unless you're completely stupid, we'd much rather have a chat with you, buy you a coffee and sticky bun and let you pick our brains on how to prevent yourselves from taking a tumble.  Don't be shy, if you've got something to ask us we're willing to share it free of charge - you might even get one of the sought after freebies we're handing out.

We're happy to discuss anything at all to do with biking, from clothing and helmets right through to how to plan your ride, read the road, plan for overtakes and to get the most enjoyment from your day out. We want you to enjoy yourselves to the full and not to become an accident statistic!

Can I remind you all again about keeping hydrated in this warm weather, carry plenty of water with you and take regular breaks.  Another wee pointer is to carry a damp chamois in a plastic bag – use it to wipe off the dead flies from your visor, you’ll see a whole lot better once it’s clear of blood and bodies.

This weekend sees the British Superbikes at Snetterton. Hopefully our local BSB rider, Stuart Easton, will manage at least a win, possibly a double. He's due a win after some great performances recently, but it'll be tough up against Leon Camier and James Ellison, not to mention the rest. A win this weekend would put Stuart in great shape for his home event at Knockhill next month - we'll be there of course, cheering him on, along with our prize winner Paul Maddock.

Dennis Hobbs, our other mate, is I hear out of hospital and back home. Hopefully it'll not be too long before he's back in the saddle winning races.

Might see you out and about this weekend, stay safe and keep the shiny side up!
