Let’s get home this weekend!

Stuart Easton, Swan Honda, no:3

As you are all well aware this weekend is the Knockhill round of the British Superbike Championship. There will be an influx of bikes through our area heading for the Kingdom of Fife and many will be using the Borders roads to get there.  We'll not only be out and about on the roads as usual, engaging with those of you we see and giving out freebies and advice, in addition we've got a stand at Knockhill where you can come and speak to us and really pick our brains.

The weather is mixed over the weekend with Saturday being the better day, Sunday is forecast for rain. If you are coming to the event then please use your head!  What you see on the track is for the track only, it doesn't mix with other moving traffic and congested roads.  The professionals are all travelling round in the same direction, with no oncoming traffic, no street furniture to contend with and no solid obstacles at the edge of the track to strike - all roads have telegraph poles, lamp posts, stone walls, bridge supports etc, that can make a real mess of plastic and flesh and bone when it comes into contact with it. Screw the nut, keep the speed legal, don't go for dodgy overtakes, don't go round corners too fast and find yourself on the wrong side of the road with an artic heading towards you, or drifitng in towards a grass verge, hedge or wall. You will all be going out to have a great weekend, don't let a crash spoil it. You'll not only hurt yourself big style, you'll damage the bike!  And another thing, I don't want to have to knock on your relatives door to tell them you won't be coming home!!  I've had to do it before, I don't want to do it again.  I won't lecture you all, just be sensible please!

Most of you will be aware that the Swan Honda rider Stuart Easton, is a great supporter of Around The Corner.  He's participated in a number of events with us and always has time to speak to people and answer your questions.  He'll be riding at his local track this weekend, so how about giving him all your support and urging him on to hopefully a double victory. If it rains on Sunday, race day, being a Borders lad and used to a bit water, he must be in with a great shout of at least one first place.

As I've mentioned, we'll be at the event on Saturday and Sunday with loads of stuff to give away and we'll be there to take questions and offer advice and pointers on how to improve your biking talent. Come and speak with us, we're all bikers together, you might just find we've got something to offer.

Have a great weekend whatever you're doing and make sure you keep it rubber side down.
