Motorcycles Runs and Rugby

Melrose 7's Rugby

Hello again. Everyone set for another great weekend out and about on the Borders roads? Last weekend was a bit of a wash-out weather wise, with the rain becoming heavier the further south you were, so there's no surprise that we didn't see many of you out and about, but it's still early in the season.

This weekend the weather is forecast to be slightly better, with the occasional shower predicted. If you want to find out for sure, check out the weather by going to our LINKS page and clicking on the BBC Weather. Similarly if you're out and about and you notice patches of road in need of attention, use our direct link to the Scottish Borders Council to directly report the fault. By doing so you may be preventing a fellow biker from experiencing an awkward moment in the future.

This weekend, apart from the great motorcycling runs drawing you into the Borders area, there's also the world famous Melrose 7's rugby tournament taking place in the town on Saturday 11. With teams travelling from all over the world to take part and featuring household names, it's a great day out. If you're planning on a ride-out into the Borders then why not plan your rest stop in Melrose and take a while out to enjoy the great atmosphere and rugby spectacle.

For those of you not rugby inclined, you can come to the Borders and still participate in one of our six Around The Corner routes, details of which you'll find on our ROUTES page. You can stick to one or two routes, or mix and match depending on where you come from and where you'd like to end up. Have a look at the previous entry on this page to see details of the new signs, incorporating our logo, that are going up in the area to help you get more from your precious time in the saddle.

As usual we'll be out and about over the holiday weekend offering free tips and advice and trying to get to know you all that wee bit better. Like you we love motorcycling and we're fortunate that we get paid to do it. It's not all about enforcement, we want to share the benefit of our training and experience with you to help prevent you from getting into a situation you can't get out of. Nobody wants to be picking you up from the road or picking up bits of plastic to glue back onto the bike!!

If you are out and about take care...think about your speed, position and gear and take that extra second or two to think about "What's Around The Corner".
