Poker Run Success
Poker Run Success

Kelso Bikefest

For those of you who came along to the Poker Run at Selkirk last Sunday a very big THANK YOU.  Our thanks also go to Eric who organised the event and to the Blue Knights Scotland 1 who helped make the event such a success. The weather was brilliant with hardly a cloud in the sky and the chat was equally as good. There were a great variety of riders and machines on display with all ages represented (in both categories).

We had 49 bikes on the run many with pillions, and the little girl who arrived as pillion with her pink and black jacket on look the part. When we left Selkirk you'd raised £428 and by the time we'd reached Hawick you fine folk had taken the sum to just over £500 - a brilliant success. The money will be donated to the Motor Neurons charity who do such good work.

I've got some photos to try and place on this page but technology is defeating me at the moment, so be patient and keep checking here to see if you've been captured and one of the photos includes you.

This weekend is a normal around the corner weekend for us, with the guys out and about doing their thing and interacting with you and other fellow bikers. Weather is supposed to be ok, but being a bank Holiday it's sure to rain at some point.

Some early notification of what's coming up in the weeks and months ahead - later this month, on the 24 May, we'll be down at Coldstream at the premises of Eastern Western, one of our partners in around the corner. We've a mini roadshow down there and there will be a display of Harley's brought down from their Edinburgh Showroom. Well worth a look, pop in and have a chat and gather up some more freebies. On 13 June we'll be at Border Bikes in Duns for another get together and on 4/5 July we'll see you up at the British Superbikes at Knockhill. On 11/12 July there's the Kelso Bikefest, another great event with bikes and riders coming from all over the country. If you've never been it's well worth a visit and the roads in to and out of Kelso are great. Why not make it part of your run that weekend, or better still, come and make a weekend of it. On 15 August we'll be at Carter Bar, at the lay-by heading north. Last year I was taken aback by the number of bikes which arrived and the number of our Dutch, German and Italian colleagues who, who having got off the ferry at Hull or Newcastle, stopped off to stretch their legs. The crack that day was great with many a good story being swapped. Lastly for us is the Steve Hislop Memorial Run, The Hizzy Run, which is scheduled for Sunday 6 September is another fine day out, commemorating one of the greatest motorcyclists ever. You'll get more details on the Hizzy Run, including routes and timings if you visit the website. Just google "Hizzy".
