Scottish Motorcycle Show
All the raffle money raised goes to a worthwhile cause.
Once again it's getting near the start of the biking season. Some of you stalwarts are still out there in the cold and wet, whilst others will just be thinking about getting the cover off the bike, giving it a once over before taking it out of the garage or shed. It's at this time of year that we begin to think of the first major event of the year, which is the Carol Nash Scottish Motorcycle Show at Ingliston on 20 and 21 March 2010.
We'll be there again, a shared stand between Around The Corner and Bikesafe Scotland. We'll have guests from our partners at Knockhill and from our colleagues at Durham Constabulary, who for the third year running will be helping to give out advice and pointers on how to improve your skills and techniques and how to be a better rider. The guests from Knockhill will be a surprise - we're hoping that some of the local bike racers will be there to sign autographs and have your picture taken with - there might even be an appearance from Stuart Easton, the Hydrex Honda Superbike rider who did so well in the BSB Championship in 2009 and who must be in with an excellent chance of lifting the title this year. Stuart has been a great supporter of our campaign, he opened it at the show last year and we followed his progress on our website over the course of the season. Being a local Borders lad it's great to see him doing so well and we'll be following him through the races again this year.
On our stand this year we're running a charity raffle in aid of hospital wards at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, which deal with head and brain injuries. The Department for Clinical Neurosciences (DCN) is a centre of excellence and patients from all over Scotland are brought to the centre to receive specialist treatment. All the proceeds of the raffle will be donated to the Department to help them continue their work. We've got four great prizes to raffle off - a Smug make motorcycle jacket, an RST-Moto make motorcylce jacket, a RST D-Zign motorcycle crash helmet and a G-Mac Jaguar motorcycle crash helmet. To win one of these great prizes you just have to buy a ticket at our stand. Tickets are only £1.00. You can buy a ticket for each of the prizes if you fancy them all, or a ticket just for the item you want the most. All the money will go to the Hospital to help keep an excellent service going - one that is good to know is there for us, but one we hope we never have to use.
Hopefully see you all in March, in the meantime stay safe - you never know what's around the corner!!
