Superbikes at Knockhill and signs going missing!

C'mon Stuart!!

Superbikes at Knockhill and signs going missing!

Sign similar to the ones being pinched.

Well, it's the weekend in the year that we look forward to the most, no - not the start of our summer holidays, but the British Superbike weekend at Knockhill. This year we'll all be cheering on the Scottish Borders local lad, Stuart Easton who rides for Hydrex Honda. Stuart is from Hawick and his mentor was the late, great Steve Hislop, one of the best motorcycle riders this country has ever produced. Knockhill can be very unpredictable weather wise - so even more than usual it could be Stuart's best chance to win a Superbike event, let's hope it's a double!  Saturday's forecast is for rain with Sunday's being light showers.

Three times British Superbike Champion Niall Mackenzie, a strong supporter of Around The Corner and Hydrex Honda's Stuart Easton will both appear at the THINK! Stand this weekend at Knockhill.

Located in the Paddock, the THINK! stand has a busy weekend of activities for fans to experience during gaps in the race action. THINK! Ambassador John Reynolds will also be making regular appearances for interviews and autographs at the unit over the weekend. John has previously given his support to Around The Corner and has opened our campaign at the Scottish Bike Show at Ingliston.

Fans will be able to use the interactive computers to win exciting prizes, have their photo taken on a virtual grid and enter the GO VIP! Competition; four lucky fans will be upgraded to full hospitality on race day- be at the THINK! unit at 12 noon when the winners will be drawn.

Local Bikesafe and Around The Corner Officers will be on hand to give out advice, help fans get the most out of the Honda Rider Trainer and sign up interested visitors for further training. Check out the British Superbike website by visiting our LINK page and clicking on the link. It'll take you to the BSB HOME page and you'll get all the details of the weekend events and timing schedule.

One final thing in closing- remember we're out and about every weekend, but this weekend we might not be so softly-softly.  Every year going to and coming from Knockhill somebody comes a cropper big style. Don't let it be you!!  If we see you riding like a plonker you'll likely be fixed. If watching the Superbikes has whetted your appetite for speed, then book yourself onto a track day and Knockhill and get it out of your system there, not on the road on the way home!

DISSAPPEARING SIGNAGE

First and foremost thanks a lot for all the positive comments you have made about our new signage in the Scottish Borders. As you know the big yellow signs have been placed around our routes at points where we think you may a reminder that the next bit of road requires a bit of the old grey matter applied to it. Well - low and behold - there is somebody out there that thinks differently. They may be anti-biker, they may see it as a wizard wheeze to take them down and risk you or anybody else's life, or maybe they just need a big sign for their bedroom wall. In any event we have now lost three signs throughout the area - so it's a big thanks from us to these selfish individuals and hopefully the same from you. Let me know your thoughts. I can always get another sign made up, using money that I'd rather spend in other ways helping bikers using the Borders roads. Unfortunately I can't buy back the time needed to warn a biker before he/she enters a particular bend too fast.

If you know of the culprit or have any info on who it may be, please get in touch - Anonymity guaranteed.

In the meantime if you do want a sign for your bedroom wall just ask,  - I'll send you a downloadable version.
