Routes

The Scottish Borders has some of the best roads for riding on in the whole of the UK. The wide sweeping bends make the region an ideal place for a great ride-out.

View maps and movies of the spectacular Reivers Run and 7s Trail, already tried and tested by hundreds of you over the last couple of summers. Our library is about to be updated with an additional four routes in the Borders which will include additional advice and tips on how to get the best from your ride-out.

The new routes are:

THE WAVERLEY WAY - this runs from the A720, Edinburgh City By-pass down the A7, passed historic Melrose onto the A68, then some cracking roads across country into Berwick-upon-Tweed. Distance approx 73 miles.

THE DUNS RIVER TOUR - this route is a loop from the A720 taking in some beautiful scenery and passing through the Lammermuir Hills. You'll see some of the best views of The Forth estuary on your journey north again. Distance approx 88 miles.

RIDING THE EAST MARCH - This route is a circular tour from Berwick-upon-Tweed taking in the area loved by the late, great Jim Clark. You'll pass his farm, his hometown of Chirnside and don't forget to visit the memorial rooms to him in Duns. Distance approx 72 miles.

THE BLUE BONNET - begin this route as you come over The Carter Bar on the A68, then run on some of the roads which are amoung the top 10 biking roads in the UK. The route is a fantastic circle from the south taking in Border towns eventually finishing over The Tweed at Coldstream on the A697. Distance approx 53 miles.

These four routes will be published on this page in full and will eventually include our interactive video clips.

If you've got your own suggestions of great routes in the Borders then feel free to share them with us and post them on our forum. We'll do the rest.

If, when you're out and about on the roads in the Scottish Borders, you see a fault with a road, then feel free to report the fault to the Scottish Borders Council.
